Bump Fire

Bump fire involves using the recoil of a gun to fire multiple shots rapidly. This technique may be performed from the shoulders or the hips. Firing from the shoulder is used more often and is used with the semi-automatic weapon.

How to do the Hip Shot

The technique is similar to the manner in which you shoot the light guns during video games. To do the hip shot, follow these steps.

Step 1

Hold up your thumb the way you would when hitchhiking.

Step 2

Put the thumb in the trigger guard. Point your knuckles at the target.

Step 3

With the thumb still sticking out, position it to the belt loop onto the right side.

Step 4

Hold the forward part of the firearm barrel as close to the tip as desired.

Step 5

Pull the firearm forward. Using the recoil, continue applying the pressure forward.

Step 6

As the firearm goes off, the recoil will move the firearms backwards. Because you are pulling forward, your thumb will activate the trigger. This will generate the full-auto speed firing. This can be done with little effort.

Tips

The hip shot method takes time to master. Unless you are experienced, the shots will not be precise. If you are utilizing an AK-47, be sure to grip the gun as near the end of the barrel as possible. This will enable you to offset the tendency of the barrels to move around.

If you are using this bump fire technique with this gun, consider adding laser lights. This will make your shooting more accurate. Rather than hold the barrel’s front, you could connect the vertical hand grip like the MP5K.

Legal Status

Special devices are used to make the bumping effect possible. But not all these devices are legal. The Akins Accelerator for the Ruger 10/22 for example, is illegal. The rules may vary in states, and not all public ranges allow it. You should go to a firing range and ask if it is permissible.

The gun fire noise is something else you will have to consider. The range is around 140 to 170 decibels. If you are going to fire in rapid succession, the noise can be deafening. However you can lower the noise by utilizing a silencer or suppressor. Using this utility the noise can be reduced to 115 db.

There are many kinds of silencers. Some are subsonic and others are known as integral suppressors. They utilize ported barrels to produce propellant gas to lower the bullet velocity.

The successive bursts from these semi-automatic guns are very much like the discharge from automated guns. However, there are differences. While a large number of rounds are being projected, they are being generated by your finger. This means the firing is not automatic, even if it seems so.

Learning how to bump fire is not easy. The process can be quite complicated. Even those who have experience using firearms will need time to master it. With enough practice though, the technique can be understood and mastered.
